How To Execute A Kick-Ass Self-Improvement Game Plan That Gets Result

Let’s be honest.

Self-improvement or personal development is hard.

There are too many things to consider- the physical, emotional, spiritual and psychological goals.

Add the fact that you’ll have to literally dodge negative people and cynics.

It can seem like mission impossible.

(Use their negative words as springboards just to prove them wrong.)

You also have to consider what the experts say.

It’s enough to leave you in a tailspin.

Yeah you have the motivational songs, speeches and sermons but that’s not enough.

Motivation is not enough to get you to where you want to go.

You need a tight game plan.

Because if it’s not you will fall on your feet.

A terrifying thought when you look at what you have to do.

It’s overwhelming.

You can understand why some people never start and if they do, why throw in the towel.

But thankfully, it doesn’t have to be a fruitless experience.

Why A Game Plan Is Essential For Successful Transformational Lifestyle

When I started I just wanted get my body ripped and try to have a healthy lifestyle.

I must admit that I did not have a game plan beyond 16 weeks that was required.

I thought that after sixteen weeks I would wing it along and have a healthy lifestyle as long as my bulge had been taken care of.

But I came to a realization that anything worth doing can’t be reduced to a formula.

I saw awesome results, inspiring me to really think about what happens when my sixteen week plan is up.

At the moment it’s more about lifestyle goal and that’s an intense challenge.

In order to pivot from intense challenge to lifestyle I had to build upon a solid foundation.

Mat 7:24  Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

Mat 7:25  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

Mat 7:26  And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

Mat 7:27  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

We all want instant gratification. If we can avoid the pain we will take the easy way out.

But the easy way doesn’t translate to longevity.

It’s a great lesson that didn’t concern my fitness but it also revolves around my blogging, writing, gardening and spiritual life.

Without a game plan built on the correct foundations you will regress.

That’s something you cannot afford to do.

As stellar game plan for the Christian is built around the foundation that is the BIBLE.

Have you heard stories of people who were once on shows like The Biggest Loser who did really well but once they got back into the real world they slid back into old pattern of doing things?

If you want to change your lifestyle don’t think you can do it over a few weeks.

When Someone Else Besides Jesus Walked on Water

It might have been a few steps but Peter walked on water briefly.

When you make a commitment to change your lives you are getting out of your comfort zones.

They really aren’t that comfortable because they require transformation.

Mat 14:22  And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

Mat 14:23  And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

Mat 14:24  But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

Mat 14:25  And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

Mat 14:26  And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

Mat 14:27  But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

Mat 14:28  And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

Mat 14:29  And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

Mat 14:30  But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

Mat 14:31  And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Mat 14:32  And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

Mat 14:33  Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

Peter got out of his comfort zone and the bible says he walked on water but then he got afraid and begun to sink.

You have to prepare for the fact that it won’t be easy.

One of the reasons we quit is we do not see immediate results from our actions or we feel the pain and we did not bargain for the pain.

But why do you expect that you will unlearn habits that took a lifetime to form in a couple of weeks?

The probability is that you will fall (many times) and that’s fine.

What’s not okay is when you stay down.

That’s failure.

Imagine if we had the same mentality when we were babies most of us would be crawling as a result of a few tumbles.

How To Create A Tight Game Plan

You have to figure how you will respond to a situation before it happens.

Before you undertake something you consider impossible examine the consequences of your decision.

Study the pros and cons.

Then decide if the Pros are worth having to navigate the cons.

You will fall.

You will be demotivated.

You will be mocked.

But you can make plans to limit the exposure to these situations and how to deal with them when they arose.

Observe the battlefield. You will send more time fighting against yourself more than other people.

  1.    Scan the landscape

For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

Luk 14:29  Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

Luk 14:30  Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

Luk 14:31  Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?

You cannot start with just a vision.

You have to know what the vision will cost you.

When you have done this you are not only able to see with clarity but you are enabled to deal with moments when you experience challenges.

  1.   Go And Possess Your Dream/Vision

Some of us expect it to be easy or for it to just manifest.

Yes there are different strokes for different folks but when you desire change it will not materialize magically.

You have to go and possess it.

Joshua 18:1  And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.

Jos 18:2  And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.

Jos 18:3  And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?

Jos 18:4  Give out from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them, and they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the inheritance of them; and they shall come again to me.

Jos 18:5  And they shall divide it into seven parts: Judah shall abide in their coast on the south, and the house of Joseph shall abide in their coasts on the north.

Jos 18:6  Ye shall therefore describe the land into seven parts, and bring the description hither to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the LORD our God.

If you are just seated nothing will happen.

Don’t blame the devil for every health issue you face if you are not taking care of the body that God gave you.

Some people should be more than they are but because they have given up, they see the devil in every detail.

Some Christians are slothful.

You have dreams but you are not willing to make an effort to make them to come to pass.

You want God to drop it onto your laps like manna from heaven.

I had that mindset, I was grumbling more than engaging in actions that would bear fruit.

I didn’t do enough research to find out what would make our startup work.

It felt better to blame other people than to accept the fact that we were clueless and we didn’t know what we were doing.

We should have done a better job of realizing that whilst we might have had individual skills we were clueless about putting them to work.

Our haphazard system was not going to work.

It’s Up To You

You have been enabled.

Start using your gifts and talents rather than being angry at God or pointing the finger at the devil.

Begin to move even if the steps are small.

Even when you stumble, find things that work for you and keep moving forward.

Remember that the bible promises that you already have the victory.
